What is NNHS track really about?

As a coaching staff, we try to reinforce the basic principles our own past experiences taught us.  We want the girls to have fun and try their best finishing hard work-outs.  The idea is that track represents a place for each person to get better.  It isn't about beating a particular team.  It's simply about being a better athlete.  Competition allows us an opportunity to perform better.  We realize competition isn't every athlete's motivation; some love to simply improve.  We provide that atmosphere.  With proper training and a healthy perspective on competing we believe athletes have a great chance to succeed.  It is with great hope that our athletes will become advocates of good health and consistent exercise.  An overall improved lifestyle is our biggest desire for each graduating senior.  We are proud of what Naperville North track represents.  The girls of the past have tried really hard to live up to the standards that make us champions.  The senior classes have expected the best from their teams.  I expect this tradition to continue as it has for over 3 decades.  We are proud of what Naperville North track represents.  The girls of the past

History

The history of NNHS track is quite remarkable with regards to coaching.  The track coaches that have been through Naperville North have included: Gus Scott, Jim Effinger, Ric Krebs, Mark Guthrie, Marty Bee, and Dan Iverson to name just a few.  Coach Scott made such a positive impact that we currently have an Invitational named after him held in early April.  Jim Effinger is currently a track referee at the IHSA state championships.  Ric Krebs retired as one of the most successful volleyball coaches in the state of Illinois.  Mark Guthrie has written books and became the head coach of UW LaCrosse's program.  Marty Bee is a very successful athletic director for Naperville Central High School.  Dan Iverson's accomplishment is featured on our website, as he is part of our coaching staff.
