Coach Scott was the head Boys Cross Country Coach at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois from 1957 until 1963. From 1963 until 1975 he was the assistant Boys cross country and assistant boys track and field coach at Naperville Community High School in Naperville, Illinois. Coach Scott was the Head Cross Country Coach and Assistant Track and Field Coach at Naperville North High School from 1975 until 1994 including a stint as the Boys Head Track and Field Coach from 1991 until 1993.

In addition, Coach Scott is a member of the Illinois track and cross country association’s Hall of Fame (induction year?)

His student athletes enjoyed much individual and team success including a 3rd place finish in the 1983 Illinois State Cross Country Championships and while a boys track and field assistant in 1987 the Huskies finished 3rd in the Illinois High School State Track and Field Championships.

Coach Scott guided several student athletes to state championships as well including two time state champ Tony Gurcio in the 800 Meter Run in 1979 and 1980, a state championship 3200 meter relay in 1980, and state champion Nick Thiel in the 1600 meter run in 1991.

Coach Scott was known for helping student athletes with “average” ability to succeed. He believed coaching the talented athlete, the one who garnered all the headlines was fulfilling but the joy of helping kids who were the “underdogs” or the ones who might never make it to the state meet was where Coach Scott gained the greatest satisfaction.

Thank you Coach for years of hard work and dedication and for helping young men and women feel good about themselves and their performances.

We are happy to put Coach Scott to work today as the finish line judge /  as the clerk of the course.
